About Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University

Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University is a state-run government university located in Kota, Rajasthan. It was established in 1987 to promote open and education in the region. The university is also known as Kota Open University, and was renamed through a Gazette Notification by the Government of Rajasthan on 21 September 2002.

The university is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and offers 68 courses, including 10 UG programs and 23 PG programs in ODL mode through five academic schools: the School of Commerce & Management, Continuing Education, Science & Technology, Education, and Humanities & Social Sciences. The admission process at Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University for the 2026 session has begun, and the last date for registration is 31 March 2026. Applicants must choose the course they want to apply for and make sure they meet all the basic eligibility criteria and any admission-related criteria.

During the admission process, applicants are required to pay an application fee of INR 200 to INR 500 for most courses. VMOU UG Admission 2026

Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University offers various undergraduate courses through open and learning. Programs like BA, BLIS, BJ, and BEd are available in various disciplines such as Mathematics, Psychology, English, Computer Science, Information Technology, and more. Students can complete any UG program in 3 years, but students can take a maximum duration of 5 years. Students who have completed 10+2 or an equivalent qualification are eligible to apply for these UG courses.

Additionally, applicants shall have a minimum of 45% marks. Most courses are offered on a merit basis, and BEd requires entrance exams conducted by the university. The course fees for UG programs range from INR 5,800 to INR 29,000.

VMOU PG Admission 2026

To be eligible for postgraduate courses at VMOU Kota, candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline. The university offers PG programs such as MA, MCom, MSc, and MBA, in English, Sociology, Political Science, Geography, Psychology, and Hindi, through learning. While most courses are offered based on merit, some programs, like MBA, require candidates to qualify through an entrance exam (MET). The duration of these courses is generally 2 years or 4 semesters. The fees for these courses are between INR 6100 and INR 18000.
